The volume, edited by Hiroko Nagasaki, Monika Horstmann and Kiyokazu Okita represents the Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Early Modern Literatures of North India, Osaka University, 15–19 July 2022.
It highlights the conference series' history, the influential 1970s manuscript collection foundational to Sant tradition studies, and multilinguality in Jain traditions. It further explores the role of women in court literature, Vedāntic interpretations, the symbolism of paintings in literature, Sūrdās and Gurmukhi cultural outputs, emphasizing the cosmopolitan nature of vernacular literature.
The complete PDF of the book as well as the individual chapters are available for free download on our HASP platform. A softcover edition has also been published and can be purchased from bookstores and online booksellers.
